Video

There are several ways to improve performance of video recording. If you want to get better frame-rate, experiencing glitches in the recorded video, or running the application on a low-end device, follow one or more instructions below to improve the performance of video recording.

Output Resolution

Performance improves significantly when a smaller output resolution is selected. It also reduces size of the output file.

Frame-Rate

Another important factor in improving performance is frame rate of the output size. Lower frame rate improves performance significantly. However, a very low frame rate video may also look laggy. Currently, the default frame rate is set to 30; if you are experiencing performance issues, we suggest you to lower the frame rate to 10.

Output Quality

Lowering quality of the output is another way to improve the performance.

Capture Area

If recording entire desktop is not necessary, you may use different Capture mode to record smaller area.

Display Resolution

Usually, display adapters support multiple resolutions for the display. Selecting a lower resolution improves performance significantly. To lower the display resolution:

  1. Open Settings app from Action Center.
  2. Click System to open System settings.
  3. From the left side menu, Click Display to open Display settings.
  4. From Resolution selector, select an smaller resolution.
  5. Click Keep Changes to confirm

Game Settings

If you use Screenbits to record your gaming experience, you can also improve performance of the app significantly by adjusting settings in game.

Start recording in game

It is highly recommended to start recording in-game rather than starting when the game is minimized and then switching to the game. You can use hotkeys to start recording in game while the app is minimized.

Game Resolution

Using lower resolutions improves performance significantly. Refer to your game options to lower the resolution, if supported.

Video Quality

Lowering the video quality can also improve performance. Refer to your game options to lower the quality, if supported.

Audio

If you want are experiencing glitches in the recorded audio or using Screenbits on a low-end device, try the workarounds below to improve quality of the recorded audio.

Use default formats

If you record audio, select one of the following formats for the audio device from the Audio settings

  • 2 channel (stereo), 16bit, 44100 Hz
  • 2 channel (stereo), 16bit, 48000 Hz

Select the same format for multiple devices

If you record both recording and playback devices, make sure same format is selected for both devices. To make input and output match together to perform better, select Auto for sample-rate and channels from Audio settings.
